Panthers Put 5 in Double Figures, Beat Miami Dade by 27
Palm Beach State College Women's Basketball team improved to 5-3 on the season with a 90-63 win over Miami Dade.
The Panthers jumped out to a 20-16 lead after the 1st quarter and never looked back. Ashley Thornton scored 7 of her 16 points in the 1st to pace the Panthers. The 2nd quarter was all Palm Beach State. Andrea Torres 13 of her Panther high 22 points in the 2nd as the Panthers outscored the Sharks 29-16.
Miami Dade clawed back in the 3rd, outscoring the Panthers 20-18 to cut the Palm Beach State lead to 67-52 entering the 4th. Palm Beach State ran away in the 4th to put away the Sharks 90-63.
Keri Cooper had her 2nd career double-double scoring 12 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. Kyandra Poitier finished 2 assists short of a triple-double adding 16 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists. Savannah McAfee added 10 points, and Allie Lallance had 8 points, all in the 4th quarter.
As a team, the 90 points is the highest point total for this season so far. Palm Beach shot 7-16 from 3 (43.8%).
Palm Beach State is back on the road Friday December 2nd when they take on Warner University's JV team at 7pm.
