In their 1st game of 2023, the Lady Panthers beat Bay College 74-73 in overtime.
It was their first game back from Christmas, but it wasn't supposed to be that way. The Lady Panthers were originally scheduled to participate in the Illinois Central Holiday Tournament December 28-30 but were unable to travel due to issues outside of their control.
In a game that was back and forth for all 45 minutes that were played, it was the Panthers that had the final lead. Ashley Thornton kicked off 2023 with a double-double (10 points and 12 assists). Keri Cooper had a double-double herself coming off the bench with 11 points and 14 rebounds, while also add 7 blocks. Andrea Torres added 25 points, going 5-11 from deep, Daijia Lopez had 11, and Tamaya Patterson had 10 points in her 1st career start for the Lady Panthers.
