Danckwerth Finishes 2nd, Team 4th at Kona Ice Keiser Kup
The Palm Beach State College women's golf team competed March 8–10 at the Kona Ice Keiser Kup, held at Okeeheelee Golf Course, continuing its spring season against a competitive field.
The Panthers turned in a solid performance, finishing 4th out of 8 teams, and 1st among NJCAA schools, marking another strong showing against a mix of collegiate programs.
Palm Beach State was led by consistent individual play throughout the three-round event. Multiple Panthers posted steady scores across all rounds, helping the team remain in contention and secure a podium finish. Leading the way was Jessica Danckwerth (9-over), who was leading after the 1st and 2nd round, as well as after 51 holes. Danckwerth was the only individual to be at even par after Round 1. At the conclusion of round 2, Danckwerth had a 2 stroke lead. Danckwerth kept the lead all the way until the last 3 holes, where the only individual (Makena Junkin, 6-over, from Texas Wesleyan) who shot under par for any round made a comeback. Danckwerth ended up finishing 2nd amongst 50 golfers. Angelina Guertin and Ida Hansen tied for 16th, Grace Canning tied for 31st, and Lisa Hashem finished in 38th place.
The tournament, hosted in West Palm Beach, featured programs from across multiple levels, providing valuable competition experience for the young PBSC squad.
This result continues a promising trend for Palm Beach State, which has shown the ability to compete with strong fields early in the spring campaign. The Panthers have now recorded multiple top finishes this season as they build momentum toward postseason play.
Palm Beach State will look to carry that momentum into its next competition as the team continues to develop and gain experience throughout the spring schedule. The Panthers next hit the golf course March 30-31 at Georgia State.
